SHOO FLY CAKE

4 c. flour
1 lb. dark brown sugar
1 c. margarine
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. boiling water
1 c. molasses
2 tsp. baking soda
Mix margarine, sugar, salt and flour until it makes crumbs. Set aside 2 cups.
Mix molasses, water and soda together. Add crumbs. Pour in ungreased 9 x 13
inch pan. Sprinkle remaining 2 cups crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45
minutes.

    I wanted to try your recipe but wasn't sure where to buy molasses from. I found out now - in England; we refer to Molasses as 'Treacle'. We have both Gold Treacle and Black Treacle.

    This is a good tip specially if you are an American coming to visit or live in the UK for a while. All the best!
